Spartans Top Cardinals To Stretch Streak To Six Straight



COLD SPRING — The hot streak continued for the ROCORI Spartans on May 4 while playing host to the Willmar Cardinals at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.


ROCORI returned home to take on Willmar in a Central Lakes Conference contest, defeating the Cardinals 7-5 to see the Spartans' winning streak stretch to six in a row entering the weekend. The game was also ROCORI's annual Youth Night, where all kids under 13 years old got free admission and a free meal at the game.


At the plate, Brady Schafer put together a perfect night by going 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBI. Thad Lieser added two hits and two runs scored, Beck Loesch went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored, Jack Spanier went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and Blake Tylutki added a hit for ROCORI.


Evan Acheson pitched the first 3 2/3 innings for the Spartans, giving up six hits, three earned runs and striking out four while earning a no-decision. Kaden Rausch pitched the final 3 1/3 innings in relief, giving up just one hit and no runs while striking out two to grab the win.


With the victory, ROCORI improves to 6-1 overall and 5-1 in Central Lakes Conference action. The Spartans will hit the road over the weekend to take on Champlin Park at 5 p.m. on May 5 at Champlin Park High School before taking on Mahtomedi at 11 a.m. on May 6 at Mahtomedi High School.
