ROCORI Falls Short In CLC Battle With Sartell

SARTELL — The ROCORI Spartans hit the road for the final time of the regular season on May 20, taking on Sartell in a rescheduled Central Lakes Conference contest at St. Cloud Orthopedic Field.


ROCORI jumped out in front early in the contest, leading 4-1 heading into the bottom half of the fourth inning. Sartell, however, answered with three runs in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game up at 4-4, eventually sealing the game in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the seventh inning to take the conference contest 7-4.


Caleb Maddox and Cal Heying led the way for the Spartans at the plate, each tallying one hit and driving in one run. Reece Kalla also drove in a run, while Zander Folkerts, Noah Olmscheid, Cooper Notch and Blake Kelly each added a hit.


Max Fredin threw the first four innings on the mound, giving up just four hits, three earned runs, two walks and striking out three. Grady Richards followed him in relief, pitching two hitless and scoreless innings, striking out one. Logan Adams rounded out the game, pitching the final 0.2 innings and giving up one hit.


With the loss, ROCORI drops to 12-9 overall on the season and 4-7 in CLC action. The final game of the regular season will take place May 21 when the Spartans host Little Falls in the finale at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.
