BECKER — The ROCORI Spartans opened up a new week in the season looking to stay red-hot during a nonconference battle with the Becker Bulldogs on Monday, May 5.

And stay hot the Spartans did, breaking out for 16 runs on 10 hits to take the contest 16-2 in five innings at Becker High School to see their winning streak stretch to seven straight.

ROCORI didn't waste any time in the game, exploding for eight runs in the top of the first inning and adding four more in the fourth inning to put the game out of reach early on.

Leading the way for ROCORI at the plate was Gabe Sauza, who went 1-for-4 with four RBI and one run scored, Zander Folkerts, who went 1-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI, and Cal Heying, who went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBI. Caleb Maddox and Noah Olmscheid each added two hits, one run scored and one RBI for the Spartans.

Max Fredin threw the first 4.1 innings to pick up the win, giving up five hits, no earned runs, one walk and striking out five. Grady Richards secured the final two outs of the game in relief, giving up one hit and striking out one.

With the win, ROCORI improves to 8-2 overall and are winners of seven in a row. Next up for the Spartans is a Central Lakes Conference contest against the Sauk Rapids Storm at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6 at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.
