Spartans Explode Offensively In Blowout Victory

FERGUS FALLS — The ROCORI Spartans hit the road on Thursday, April 24, making the trek north to Fergus Falls for a Central Lakes Conference battle against the Otters.


ROCORI made the most of the trip to Fergus Falls, exploding for a season-high 17 runs to blow out Fergus Falls 17-3 in five innings at DeLagoon Park.


The Spartans tallied three runs in the opening inning, later adding five runs in the third frame and an impressive nine in the fourth to comprise of 17 total runs.


Tyler Prom and Cal Heying led the way at the plate in an overall stellar offensive showing for ROCORI, with Prom finishing 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run, and Heying adding one hit, three RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases. Beyond Prom and Heying, Jake Stalboerger went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI, while Zander Folkerts, Max Fredin and Caleb Maddox each tallied two RBI each.


On the mound, Fredin tossed the first four innings to pick up the win, giving up five hits, two earned runs, no walks and striking out two. Reece Kalla pitched the final scoreless inning to round out the game for the Spartans, giving up just one hit.


With the victory, ROCORI improves to 3-2 overall and 3-2 in Central Lakes Conference action. Next up for the Spartans is a nonconference showdown against Hutchinson on Friday, April 25 at 5 p.m. at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.
