ST. CLOUD — The ROCORI Spartans got back on the road and dodged the rain on Thursday, April 17 when they faced the St. Cloud Crush in a Central Lakes Conference showdown.

The conference battle required extra innings to decide things, with ROCORI coming up short 4-3 in 10 innings at the Municipal Athletic Complex in St. Cloud.

ROCORI tallied two runs in the second inning and tied the game up at 3-3 with a run in the fifth frame, helping force extra innings until the contest was ultimately decided with a walk-off win from St. Cloud in the bottom of the 10th inning.

At the plate, Tyler Prom went 2-for-4 with a triple, Caleb Maddox and Cal Heying each recorded one hit and one RBI, and Zander Folkerts added one hit, one steal and two runs for the Spartans.

Max Fredin go the start on the mound for ROCORI, grabbing a no decision after pitching four innings and giving up six hits, three runs and striking out six. Prom entered the game after Fredin, pitching five shutout innings in relief while giving up just two hits and striking out three. Jace Griffin pitched the final inning for the Spartans to finish the game.

With the loss, ROCORI falls to 1-2 overall and 1-2 in CLC action this season. Next up for the Spartans is another conference showdown against Brainerd on April 22 at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.
