ROCORI Falls To Willmar in Conference Doubleheader


COLD SPRING -- The ROCORI Spartans baseball team remained at home in Cold Spring on Tuesday, May 4 to host a Central Lakes Conference opponent in a doubleheader.


The Spartans welcomed in the Willmar Cardinals for a conference doubleheader at the Cold Spring Baseball Park, falling in both games of the CLC showdown.


In Game 1, ROCORI out-hit Willmar, tallying a total of eight runs and getting on the board first in the opening inning, but the Spartans dropped the first of two contests 9-1.


At the plate, ROCORI was led by Jack Spanier who went 2-for-3 and Brady Blattner who finished 1-for-2 with one RBI. Sam Rothstein, Brady Linn, Cole Fuchs, Connor Clark and Tanner Rausch all added one hit.


Blattner started the game on the mound for the Spartans, throwing the first five innings of the contest. He gave up five hits, five runs and struck out three. Cam Miller and Nick Howen finished the game in relief for the Spartans.


In Game 2, ROCORI ran into some hot Willmar pitching en route to dropping the second matchup by a score of 6-1.


The Spartans finished the contest with one run with one hit, that lone hit of the game coming off the bat of Brady Blattner, who finished 1-for-3.


On the mound, Brady Linn threw the first five innings and was relieved by Luke Humbert, who threw the final inning of the contest. Linn gave up just two earned runs and struck out one, while Humbert gave up one hit and one run while striking out one.


With the pair of losses, ROCORI fell to 3-3 on the year in the Central Lakes Conference while dropping to 4-5 overall on the season. The Spartans return to action on Thursday, May 6 when they host Brainerd at 5 p.m. at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.
