ROCORI Takes Down Detroit Lakes For Third Straight Win

RICHMOND -- The ROCORI Spartans returned home on April 28 to host the Detroit Lakes in a Section 8-3A battle, looking to build on a two-game winning streak after previously sweeping a doubleheader against Fergus Falls earlier in the week.

The Spartans answered with another strong performance in Richmond, taking down the Lakers 4-2 to tally their third straight win to round out the week.

Detroit Lakes kicked off the scoring in the first inning of the non-conference contest, tallying one run in the top half of the first inning. ROCORI answered back with a run of its own in the bottom half of the inning, going on to add two runs in the fourth inning and one in the fifth inning to pull away with the victory.

At the plate, Jack Spanier finished 2-for-3 with one run scored, Beck Loesch went 1-for-2 with two RBI, Luke Van Erp added one hit and one run, and Brady Schafer tallied one hit for the Spartans.

On the mound, Evan Acheson pitched the first four innings while picking up the win. He gave up just four hits, one unearned run and three walks with eight strikeouts. Loesch pitched the final three innings in relief for ROCORI, giving up three hits, one unearned run, one walk and striking out two.

With the win, the Spartans move to 3-1 overall on the season and remain 2-1 in Central Lakes Conference action. Next up on the schedule for ROCORI is CLC matchup against Sauk Rapids at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2 at Bob Cross Field in Sauk Rapids.
