COLD SPRING — The ROCORI Spartans had their season come to a close over the weekend when they faced off against the Hutchinson Tigers on Saturday, May 31 in the Section 8-3A Playoffs.
After dropping into the losers' bracket a few days earlier, ROCORI had its season on the line at the Cold Spring Baseball Park when Hutchinson came to town. Despite a late-game comeback attempt, the Spartans couldn't quite climb back to even the game, falling 6-4 to have their season come to an end.
Jace Griffin went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Cal Heying went 2-for-2 with two doubles, one RBI and one run scored to lead ROCORI at the plate. Caleb Maddox added one hit, one run, one RBI and one steal while Noah Olmscheid, Tyler Prom and Jake Stalboerger each tallied one hit.
Max Fredin got the start on the mound for the Spartans, pitching the first three innings while giving up three hits, three earned runs and striking out one. Prom rounded out the game in relief, pitching the final four innings and giving up four hits, two runs and striking out five.
With the loss, ROCORI concludes the 2025 season with an overall record of 15-8. Thank you to the Spartans seniors for their contributions this season and in dedication to the ROCORI Baseball program!
