ROCORI's Offense Explodes To Open Section Playoffs



COLD SPRING — The fourth-seeded ROCORI Spartans opened the up the Section 8-3A Playoffs at home on Tuesday, May 28, welcoming the fifth-seeded Hutchinson Tigers to the Cold Spring Baseball Park.


ROCORI kicked off the postseason in a big way, opening the game with an impressive 10 runs in the bottom of the first while going on to take down Hutchinson 11-1 in five innings.


With the win, the Spartans move on in the Section 8-3A Playoffs winners' bracket, moving on to take on top-seeded Alexandria on May 30 in the section quarterfinals. View the full Section 8-3A playoff bracket here.


In the win over Hutchinson, ROCORI tallied nine hits as a team, led by Jack Boos who went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI, Jace Griffin who went 2-for-3 with one run scored and Hunter Fuchs who went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and one RBI. Tyler Prom added two hits, Kaden Rausch tallied one hit, one run scored and one RBI, and Max Fredin, Jared Laudenbach and Caleb Maddox each drove in one run a piece for the Spartans.


Jacob Stalboerger threw the first two innings on the mound for ROCORI, giving up just one hit, no runs, no walks and striking out one. Rausch threw the final three innings, giving up four hits, one run, two walks and striking out two.
