RED WING — After falling short in the last two games, ROCORI hit the road for a back-to-back two-day battle against Red Wing, kicking off that mini series on Friday, May 16 at Red Wing Athletic Field.

The Spartans got back on track in the nonconference battle, responding in the final innings of the game to come back and take down Red Wing, 7-4.

Red Wing got out to a lead early, plating two runs in each of the first and second innings to grab a 4-0 advantage. But like we've seen on numerous occasions, ROCORI responded, tallying four runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth to create enough room to grab the victory.

Max Fredin went 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored and Caleb Maddox finished 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored to lead ROCORI at the plate. Jake Stalboerger, Cal Heying and and Jace Griffin each recorded two hits and one run scored for the Spartans.

Nolan VanLoy notched a complete-game win on the mound, going the distance while giving up four earned runs, one walk and striking out five in seven innings of work.

With the win, ROCORI improves to 12-4 overall and will return to action on Saturday, May 17 once again against Red Wing at the Red Wing Athletic Field.
