COLD SPRING — The ROCORI Spartans took part in their second game in two days on Tuesday, May 6, getting back into Central Lakes Conference action with a home battle against Sauk Rapids.

The Spartans continued to stay red hot in the game at the Cold Spring Baseball Park, topping the Storm 7-3 to secure ROCORI's eighth win in a row.

Sauk Rapids got on the board first with a run in the top of the first inning, but ROCORI responded while taking a 4-3 advantage heading into the sixth frame. In that inning, the Spartans added some insurance runs, plating three runs in the bottom of the sixth to put the game out of reach.

Noah Olmscheid went 1-for-4 with three RBI, Zander Folkerts went 2-for-2 with three runs scored and one steal, and Caleb Maddox went 2-for-4 with one run scored and two steals to lead the Spartans at the plate. Tyler Prom, Jake Stalboerger and Gabe Sauza each added one hit and one RBI.

Stalboerger got the starting nod in the contest, earning the win while throwing five innings and giving up just six hits, one earned run, two walks and striking out five. Nolan VanLoy pitched the final two innings in relief, giving up one hit and no runs.

With the win, ROCORI improves to 9-2 on the season and moves to 6-2 in CLC action. Next up for the Spartans is another conference battle at home, welcoming in Willmar to Cold Spring on Thursday, May 8 at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.
