ROCORI Opens 2024 Season With Offensive Outburst



ALEXANDRIA — The ROCORI Baseball team got the 2024 high school baseball season underway on Tuesday, April 9, opening the new year with a Central Lakes Conference battle on the road.


ROCORI kicked off the year in a big way, taking down the Alexandria Cardinals 15-3 behind an offensive outburst at Knute Nelson Field.


The Spartans came out the gates firing, plating four runs in the opening inning to jump out to a multi-run advantage. After adding two more runs in the fifth frame, ROCORI held a 6-3 edge entering the seventh and final inning before blowing the game wide open. The Spartans exploded for nine runs in the top of the seventh inning, going on to take the conference contest by a 12-run advantage.


Leading the way for ROCORI was Max Fredin, who finished 2-for-5 with a double, triple and six RBI to go along with one run scored. Tyler Prom went 2-for-3 with two RBI, two walks and one run scored, Noah Olmscheid went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored , Kaden Rausch drove in two runs, Jacob Stalboerger went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and one RBI and Hunter Fuchs added two hits and one RBI for the Spartans at the plate.


On the mound, Fuchs earned the win while pitching the first four innings and giving up five hits, two runs and no walks while striking out two. Rausch pitched the final three innings in relief, giving up five hits, one run, no walks and striking out four.


With the win, ROCORI begins the season with a 1-0 CLC record and a 1-0 record overall. Next up for the Spartans is a conference showdown against the St. Cloud Crush at 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 11 at the St. Cloud MAC.
