ROCORI Falls To St. Cloud In CLC Battle

COLD SPRING — A night after having their game halted due to rain on April 30, the ROCORI Spartans baseball team moved up their game against the St. Cloud Crush — originally scheduled for May 2 — to May 1 due to anticipated rain in the area.

In the contest at the Cold Spring Baseball Park, the Spartans outhit the Crush 10-4 but fell in the Central Lakes Conference contest by a score of 4-2.

ROCORI recorded one run in both the second and third innings, carrying a 2-2 tie with St. Cloud into the fifth inning. In the top of that frame, the Crush scored the go-ahead runs to take a two-run advantage, which ended up being enough to take the game.

Tyler Prom and Mac Fredin each recorded three hits to lead the Spartans at the plate, with Jacob Stalboerger and Jace Griffin tallying one hit and one RBI a piece for ROCORI.

Stalboerger threw the first six innings on the mound for the Spartans, giving up four hits, three earned runs and striking out four. Kaden Rausch pitched the final inning in relief, giving up no hits, no runs and no walks in a shutout relief appearance.

With the loss, ROCORI dropped to 4-4 overall and 4-4 in CLC action this season. Next up for ROCORI is a nonconference battle against Champlin Park on Friday, May 3 at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.
