ROCORI Falls To Sartell For First Loss Of Season


SARTELL -- The ROCORI Spartans baseball team hit the road for the first time in the 2022 regular season on April 28, taking on the Sartell Sabres in a Central Lakes Conference showdown in Sartell.


At the end of the showdown, the Spartans fell for the first time of the year, dropping the conference game 10-2 at St. Cloud Orthopedics Field in Sartell. ROCORI managed to tally two runs in the fourth inning to narrow the Sartell lead down to 3-2, but the Sabres went on to outscore the Spartans 7-0 over the final three frames to come away with the win.


At the plate, ROCORI was led by Cole Fuchs with one hit and one RBI. Brady Shafer went 1-for-3 with one run scored, Peyton Randall drove one run and Sam Zeiher finished with one hit for the Spartans.


Fuchs also started the game on the mound for ROCORI, pitching the first five innings after getting the start. Evan Acheson and Jack Spanier finished out the game in relief of Fuchs for the Spartans.


With the loss, ROCORI falls to 4-1 in the conference and 4-1 overall on the season. The Spartans return to action on Tuesday, May 3 when they host the Sauk Rapids Storm at 5 p.m. at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.
