ROCORI Falls to Mahtomedi to Wrap Up Weekend Road Trip
MAHTOMEDI — To wrap up their annual weekend road trip, the ROCORI Spartans faced Mahtomedi on May 6 to take part in the third game in three days.
After facing Champlin Park the night prior, ROCORI dropped a nonconference battle to Mahtomedi, falling 7-1 at Mahtomedi High School.
Mahtomedi jumped out ahead of ROCORI early, scoring six runs in the second inning and one in the third to take an early 7-0 advantage. The Spartans' attempt at a comeback fell short, bringing home one run in the top of the seventh inning.
At the plate, Brady Weber, Jack Boos and Beck Loesch all recorded one hit for the the Spartans, with Blake Tylutki driving in the lone run for ROCORI.
On the mound, Hunter Fuchs threw the first three inning while giving up just three earned runs with two strikeouts, followed by Brady Weber with three shutout innings of relief while giving up two hits and striking out one.
With the loss, ROCORI dropped to 6-3 overall on the season and remain 5-1 in Central Lakes Conference play entering the new week. Next up on the schedule for the Spartans is a meeting with the St. Cloud Crush at 5 p.m. on May 9 at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.
