ROCORI Falls To Brainerd In First Home Game



COLD SPRING — The ROCORI Spartans baseball team hosted its first home game of the 2024 season on Thursday, April 18, welcoming the Brainerd Warriors to Cold Spring.


In their fourth straight Central Lakes Conference game to start the year, the Spartans dropped the contest 8-3 at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.


ROCORI got on the board first in the game, plating one run in the first and two in the second to jump out to a 3-0 advantage. Brainerd answered back, tying the game up heading into the seventh inning before scoring five runs in the final frame to take the contest.


Leading the way for the Spartans at the plate was Jacob Stalboerger, who went 2-for-3. Noah Olmscheid went 1-for-2 with one RBI, Max Fredin and Jack Boos both added one hit and one run, and Tyler Prom recorded one RBI.


Stalboerger threw the first five innings on the mound while earning a no-decision, giving up four hits, one earned run, two walks while striking out four. Boos threw the final two innings for ROCORI, giving up three hits, one earned run, two walks and striking out three.


With the loss, the Spartans drop to 2-2 overall on the season and 2-2 in CLC action. ROCORI gets right back to action on Friday, April 19, traveling to take on Detroit Lakes in a section battle in Detroit Lakes.
