BRAINERD — The ROCORI Spartans continued their string of Central Lakes Conference games on April 23, traveling to Brainerd to face the Warriors.

ROCORI got on the board first in the game, plating one run in the second inning to grab a 1-0 lead. Brainerd then answered with two runs in the third inning before the Spartans evened the game up at 2-2 in the top of the sixth.

The Warriors, however, scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning, ending up holding onto the lead to come away with a 3-2 win over the Spartans.

Caleb Maddox went 2-for-3 with one run scored and Max Fredin went 1-for-3 with one RBI to lead ROCORI at the plate. Cooper Notch, Noah Olmscheid and Nolan VanLoy each added one hit a piece.

Reece Kalla tossed all six innings on the mound for the Spartans, pitching well despite the loss. Kalla gave up just five hits, two earned runs and struck out six.

With the loss, the Spartans fall to 2-3 overall and 0-3 in CLC play. Next up for ROCORI is a conference contest against Sartell on April 27 in Sartell.
