ROCORI Falls 3-0 In Pitchers’ Duel


COLD SPRING — The ROCORI Spartans baseball team concluded another week in the regular season on Friday, May 3 while welcoming Champlin Park into Cold Spring.


In a low-scoring pitchers’ duel, ROCORI dropped the contest 3-0 at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.


Champlain Park opened the game up with two runs in the top of the first, adding its third and final run in the fifth frame. ROCORI, which finished with a trio of hits, wasn’t able to bring a run across home plate in the game.


At the plate, Max Fredin went 2-for-3 with a double to lead the way for the Spartans, followed by Jace Griffin with one hit.


Fredin also started the game on the mound for ROCORI, throwing the first six innings while giving up five hits, two earned runs and no walks while striking out four. Kaden Rausch pitched the final frame in relief, giving up just one hit, no runs and no walks.


With the loss, ROCORI dropped to 4-5 overall on the season and remains at 4-4 in Centeal Lakes Conference play. Next up for the Spartans is a CLC battle against Brainerd at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7 in Brainerd.
