ROCORI Ends Week By Splitting A Pair Of Games

The ROCORI Spartans baseball team wrapped up a busy week in the home stretch of the regular season schedule this week, splitting a pair of contests on the road.

On Thursday, May 13, ROCORI traveled to Alexandria to take on the Cardinals at Knute Nelson Field, falling in that game by a score of 10-2. The next day, on Friday, May 14, the Spartans traveled to Little Falls to face the Flyers, bouncing back with a 4-2 victory in a nonconference showdown.

In the game against Alexandria, Jack Spanier and Cam Miller each recorded an RBI for ROCORI, with Jayden Philippi, Sam Rothstein, Brady Blattner, Connor Clark and Henry Theis also tallying one hit a piece.

Cole Fuchs started the game on the mound for the Spartans, pitching four innings and striking out four. Nick Howen tossed two innings in relief of Fuchs, giving up one hit, no earned runs and no walks.

In the game against Little Falls, a three-run fifth inning and a one-run sixth inning paced ROCORI to a win over the Flyers on the road. Tanner Rausch went 2-for-3, Jayden Philippi and Jack Spanier each went 1-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored and Cameron Miller finished 1-for-2 with one run scored and one RBI for the Spartans.

Brady Blattner took the mound to pitch the first six innings, giving up just six hits, two runs, two walks and striking out eight to grab the win. Connor Clark threw the final inning in relief, giving up one hit, no runs and no walks.

With the split of the two games, ROCORI now sits at 6-4 in Central Lakes Conference action and 8-6 overall on the year. The Spartans will return to action on Tuesday, May 18 when they host Sauk Rapids in a CLC battle at the Cold Spring Baseball Park.
