ALEXANDRIA — The ROCORI Spartans had their game against the Alexandria Cardinals moved up a day, taking the field for the Central Lakes Conference battle on May 14 rather than the originally scheduled date of May 15 due to potential rain.

The Spartans and Cardinals squared off in a battle between two of the top teams in the conference, with Alexandria coming out on top 7-1 at Knute Nelson Field in Alexandria.

ROCORI scored its lone run of the game in the top of the fourth inning, but couldn't quite get enough offense going to catch up with Alexandria to complete another comeback win.

Zander Folkerts led the way at the plate for the Spartans, finishing 1-for-3 with one run scored. Caleb Maddox recorded the other hit for ROCORI, finishing 1-for-3.

Reece Kalla got the starting nod on the mound for ROCORI, pitching five innings and giving up six hits, four earned runs and striking out four. Grady Richards threw the final inning in relief, giving up no hits, no earned runs and no walks.

With the loss, the Spartans falls to 11-4 overall and is now 7-3 in Central Lakes Conference action. To view the remaining schedule for ROCORI, click here.
