ROCORI Drops Close Contest To See Season End In Section Playoffs


ST. CLOUD — The ROCORI Spartans baseball team returned to postseason play on Saturday, June 4 in St. Cloud to battle Little Falls in a win-or-go-home Section 8-3A playoff game.


In a low-scoring and close contest, the third-seeded Spartans fell to the sixth-seeded Flyers 2-1 at the St. Cloud MAC. With the loss, ROCORI also saw its season come to an end after being eliminated from the section playoffs.

ROCORI kicked off scoring in the game, recording its lone run in the bottom of the second inning to take an early 1-0 lead. Little Falls went on to take the lead in the fifth inning, bringing home two runs to hold a one-run advantage and not look back for a remainder of the game.


At the plate, Brady Schafer went 2-for-3 while Beck Loesch scored one run to lead the Spartans. Jack Spanier, Peyton Randall and Evan Acheson each added one hit for ROCORI.


Acheson started the game on the mound for the Spartans, pitching the first 4 1/3 innings while giving up just three hits and two runs while striking out four. Hunter Fuchs and Tyler Lardy shut down Little Falls to round out the game in relief for ROCORI, with Fuchs throwing 2/3 of an inning and Lardy throwing two innings


With the loss, the Spartans see their season come to a close with an overall record of 13-9. Thank you to everyone for your support of ROCORI Baseball again this season!
