ROCORI Drops Central Lakes Contest To Sauk Rapids


SAUK RAPIDS -- The ROCORI Spartans baseball team got back to action in a rescheduled game on Saturday, May 7, taking on Sauk Rapids in a Central Lakes Conference road contest.


ROCORI ended up falling to Sauk Rapids at Bob Cross Field in Sauk Rapids, dropping the matchup against the Storm 14-1 in five innings. The Spartans kicked off the scoring in the first inning, tallying one run in the top of the inning. The Storm answered back with three runs in the first inning, eight in the third inning and three more in the fourth inning to come away with the win.


ROCORI finished the game with one hit, that hit being recorded by Brady Blattner in the top of the fourth inning. He finished 1-for-2 to lead the Spartans at the plate, followed by Jack Spanier with one run scored.


Spanier started the game on the mound for ROCORI, pitching the first 2 1/3 innings while striking out one. Brady Weber pitched 1/3 of an inning in relief of Spanier, followed by Evan Acheson rounding out the game on the hill pitching the final 1 1/3 innings.


With the loss, ROCORI falls to 5-3 in Central Lakes Conference action and also falls to 5-3 overall on the season. The Spartans will return to the field on Tuesday, May 10 when they travel to St. Cloud to take on the St. Cloud Crush at 7 p.m. at Dick Putz Field.
