ROCORI Comes Back To Beat Sartell In Final Frame



SARTELL — The ROCORI Spartans hit the road to take on a Central Lakes Conference opponent on May 18 when they took on Sartell at the St. Cloud Orthopedic Field in Sartell.


After falling behind in the middle innings, the Spartans came back to pull out a 6-5 victory to win their fifth game in a row.


ROCORI kicked off the scoring in the first inning while adding another run in fourth frame to take a 2-0 advantage. Sartell answered with five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to jump out in front 5-2, a lead that held until the final inning. In the top of the seventh, the Spartans brought home four runs to come back late to steal the conference battle on the road.


At the plate, Jack Spanier went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI while Beck Loesch went 1-for-4 with two RBI to lead ROCORI. Brady Weber went 2-for-3 with one run scored, John Kinzer went 1-for-2 with one run scored and one RBI and Jack Boos added one hit and one run for the Spartans.


On the mound, Beck Loesch pitched the first 3 2/3 innings while giving up four hits, five runs and striking out two in a no-decision. Logan Bauer threw the final 3 1/3 innings in relief, giving up four hits, no runs, one walk and striking out two to get the win.


With the victory, ROCORI improved to 11-5 overall on the season while moving to 8-3 in conference action. Next up on the schedule for the Spartans is a rematch against Sartell on May 19 in Cold Spring.
