Rocori Takes Down Sauk Rapids in Regular Season Finale


SAUK RAPIDS -- The Rocori Spartans baseball team wrapped up the regular season schedule with a victory on Thursday night.

Rocori took down Sauk Rapids 7-3 in a Central Lakes Conference contest at Bob Cross Field in Sauk Rapids.

The Spartans tallied three runs in the fourth inning, two in the fifth inning and two more in the seventh en route to the win.

Jack Steil went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and Matthew Waletzko went 2-for-3 with one RBI to lead the way for Rocori at the plate. Dylan Rausch and Brandon Gill each added one hit, one run and one RBI.

Brady Klehr threw three innings in relief to pick up the win for the Spartans after Eli Emerson threw two shutout innings to start the game. Klehr gave up two hits, one run, three walks and struck out three in the game.

Blake Miller and Mason Primus each threw one inning in relief to close the game and secure the win.

With the win, Rocori finishes the 2018 regular season with an 8-4 record in the Central Lakes Conference and an overall record of 14-4.

Next up for the Spartans is the Section 5-3A playoffs. They will find out their seed for the section tournament on Friday.
