Rocori Takes Down Fridley for Nonconference Win


COLD SPRING -- The Rocori Spartans baseball team won their second consecutive nonconference game on Saturday in Cold Spring.

Rocori took down Fridley 6-4 at the Cold Spring Baseball Park, the first game that the Spartans played back at their home park this season.

Rocori jumped out to an early lead en route to the win, highlighted by a four-run second inning.

Dalton Thelen finished 2-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI and Matthew Waletzko went 2-for-3 with one RBI to lead the Spartans at the plate. Brandon Gill went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Mason Primus went 1-for-3 with one RBI and Brady Klehr added one RBI.

Klehr threw five innings on the mound to get the win for Rocori. He gave up six hits, two earned runs, four walks and struck out three. Blake Miller and Primus each pitched one shutout inning in relief to close out the game.

With the win, the Spartans improved to 13-3 on the season as they head into the final week of the regular season.

Next up for Rocori is a Central Lakes Conference game against Brainerd at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Cold Spring Baseball Park in the final home game before playoffs begin.

The Spartans will close out the regular season against Sauk Rapids on Thursday in Sauk Rapids.
