Rocori Holds Off Grand Rapids For 10th Win


GRAND RAPIDS -- The Rocori Spartans baseball team kicked off the weekend with a nonconference victory over Grand Rapids on Friday night.

The Spartans held off Grand Rapids 7-6 at Grand Rapids Legion Field to record their 10th win of the season.

Brady Klehr pitched 4.2 innings on the mound to pick up the win for Rocori. He gave up five hits, four runs, four walks and struck out three. Brandon Gill pitched 2.1 innings in relief to pick up the save.

Gill led the Spartans at the plate, going 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Matthew Waletzko went 2-for-3 with two RBI, Mason Primus went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI and Tylor Schroeder went 2-for-2.

Dalton Thelen, Jack Steil and Matthew Koshiol each added a hit in the game for Rocori.

With the win, the Spartans improve to 10-1 on the season heading. Next up for Rocori is a nonconference game against Greenway at 11 a.m. Saturday at Marble Amateur Field.
