Spartans Split Doubleheader with Eagles


FARMING -- The Rocori Spartans baseball team split a Central Lakes Conference doubleheader with St. Cloud Apollo on Tuesday evening in Farming.

Rocori fell to Apollo in Game 1, 10-7, before coming back to earn a split of the doubleheader with a 11-2 Game 2 win.

In Game 1, the Spartans jumped out to a 6-0 lead heading into the seventh inning, but couldn't hold on.

The Eagles ended up scoring six runs in the top of the seventh to force extra innings, before tallying four more in the top of the eighth inning to eventually had Rocori a 10-7 loss.

Dylan Tebrake led the way for the Spartans, pitching a little over six perfect innings on the mound. Tebrake threw 6 1/3 innings, giving up no hits, no runs, no walks and striking out 12. The senior also led Rocori at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Jack Steil ended up going 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI, followed by Brady Klehr finishing 3-for-3 with a run scored and Reed Ruegemer going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In Game 2, Mason Primus went 2-for-4 with three RBI and Dylan Rausch went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI to lead Rocori to a win.

Matthew Koshiol went 1-for-2 with two runs scored, Brady Klehr went 1-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI and Dylan Tebrake finished 1-for-3 with one RBI for the Spartans.

Brandon Gill pitched six innings to get the win, giving up four hits, one unearned run, three walks while striking out seven.

Following the pair of games, Rocori moves to a Central Lakes Conference-leading record of 5-1 and are now also 5-1 overall this season.

Next up for the Spartans is a Central Lakes Conference game against Alexandria at 5 p.m. Thursday back in Farming.
