Rocori Wins Two Saturday To Stay Alive in Section 5-3A Playoffs

ST. CLOUD -- The Rocori Spartans baseball team had both their offense and defense rolling on Saturday, winning a pair of games to advance in the Section 5-3A playoffs. 

 

Second-seeded Rocori began the day by taking on No. 4 Big Lake at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud. 

 

The Spartans jumped out to an early lead, scoring four runs in the first, two in the second and adding one run in the third, fourth and fifth innings to come away with the 9-2 victory. 

 

Rocori tallied 14 hits in the game, out-hitting Big Lake 14-6. 

 

Jordan Barth went 4-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and one RBI and Dylan Tebrake went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run scored to lead the Spartans at the plate. 

 

Max Fuchs went 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored, William Huls went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Nick Penick and Brandon Gill each had one hit and one RBI. 

 

Eli Emerson pitched the first 4 2/3 innings to get the win on the mound for Rocori. He gave up five hits, two runs, two walks and struck out four. Connor Schoborg pitched 2 1/3 shutout innings in relief. 

 

After the win, the Spartans immediately turned around to face No. 7 Willmar at Joe Faber Field. 

 

Rocori ended up coming away with the 8-0 victory over the Cardinals. 

 

Although the offense went off for eight runs on 10 hits in the game, Dylan Tebrake was the story of the game for the Spartans. 

 

Tebrake pitched a complete-game shutout to get the win on the mound. He gave up three hits, no runs, three walks and struck out an impressive 14 batters. 

 

Max Fuchs went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI and Nick Penick went 2-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Spartans offense. Dylan Tebrake went 2-for-4 with one RBI, Mason Primus went 2-for-3 and David Holbrook drove in two runs for Rocori. 

 

With the win, Rocori advances to take on No. 6 St. Cloud Apollo at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Dick Putz Field. If the Spartans win, they will take on No. 1 St. Cloud Tech in the championship round immediately after at Putz Field.
