Rocori Shuts Down Sauk Rapids, 8-0


SAUK RAPIDS -- The Rocori Spartans baseball team shut down the Sauk Rapids Storm on Monday evening in Sauk Rapids.

Rocori went off for eight runs on eight hits to top Sauk Rapids 8-0 in a Central Lakes Conference matchup.

With the win, the Spartans extended their winning streak to two games and have now won three of their last four games.

Dylan Tebrake stole the show for Rocori on the mound, pitching six shutout innings. He gave up five hits, one walk and struck out eight. Tebrake improved his record to 2-2 on the season, holding an ERA of 3.98 in 19 1/3 innings. Nick Penick pitched one scoreless inning in relief for the Spartans to complete the shutout.

Grant Thomes went 1-for-3 with two RBI and Matt Waletzko went 2-for-2 with one runs scored and one RBI to lead Rocori at the plate. Jordan Barth, Tebrake, Mason Primus and Sam Young each added one hit.

Cole Fuecker went 2-for-3 to lead Sauk Rapids. Noah Klinefelter pitched six innings at took the loss for the Storm. He gave up six hits, three runs (one earned), three walks and struck out five.

With the win, Rocori improved to 4-5 in the conference and 5-5 overall.

Next up for the Spartans is a Central Lakes Conference doubleheader against Sartell on Tuesday, May 9. The first game is set to begin at 4 p.m., with the second game to follow shortly after.
