Rocori Falls To Willmar, 4-0


WILLMAR -- The Rocori Spartans baseball team fell to Willmar on Thursday night in a Central Lakes Conference matchup.

The Cardinals started the game off by scoring one run in the bottom of the first inning. They then added three runs in the second inning to stretch the lead to 4-0, which would end up being the final score.

Rocori was held to just two hits in the game. Jordan Barth went 1-for-3 and Dalton Thelen finished 1-for-1 for the Spartans.

Eli Backes pitched five innings on the mound and took the loss in the game for Rocori. He gave up six hits, four runs (three earned), one walk and struck out three. Dylan Tebrake pitched one inning in relief, giving up no hits, no runs, no walks and striking out two.

Brayden Sunder went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Dalton Rambow finished 1-for-3 with one RBI to lead Willmar.

Grant Bangen pitched the first six innings to get the win for the Cardinals. He gave up one hit, no runs, two walks and struck out one.

With the loss, Rocori falls to 2-4 in the CLC and 2-4 overall. The Spartans will next face Alexandria at 5 p.m. May 2 at the Cold Spring baseball Park.
